Asus DirectCU II BIOS flashed to Asus Matrix ROG 7970

I wanted to try really overclocking my Asus 7970 (DirectCU II) so I flashed the BIOS to that of the Asus Matrix 7970. Everything worked great and by doing so, it unlocked my cards voltage and I was able to hit 1300Mhz no problem. This was a week ago. After I saw what the card was capable of, I flashed it back to my stock BIOS and that was that.

Well this morning, I was running the Valley 1.0 benchmark and wanted to push for 60FPS. I flashed the BIOS back to the Matrix, but this time, after I set everything up in Asus GPU Tweak, I hit the "Burn" button so that the BIOS would always default to these settings. The screen went black and I had to reboot. It made it into Windows but 2 seconds after getting to the desktop, it black screened again.

I flashed it back to the stock BIOS and everything was fine. I re-downloaded the Matrix BIOS, flashed it back, but again it would lock up when it got to Windows. I removed Asus GPU Tweak and all AMD drivers. Now I could boot into Windows with the Matrix BIOS, but when I looked at my settings in Afterburner, everything read ZERO. I re-installed the AMD drivers and restarted... Back to to the black screen right after I got into Windows.

Is there anyway to fix this? Is Windows holding onto something from when I chose the "Burn" option in Asus GPU Tweak? I have tried it with different Matrix versions but no matter what I use now, the computer screen goes black as soon as I hit Windows. The stock BIOS still works fine, what did I do to this thing haha! Any ideas? I appreciate any help!

Firstly, never ever use the burn button. Don't even set OC settings to stick over reboots(this will often cause the BSOD @win startup. Even if OC is rock stable, has happened to me many times) The card doesn't become a matrix card, the matrix card is very different from a DC2 card. Although you get abit more voltage on the gpu(1256mV, even if it says that you can increase upto 1400mV) The burn button is for matrix cards, I recommend not using it at all regardless of what card you have.

Solution to your problem, start win in failsafe mode and delete the gpu tweak folder, then normal reboot and it should work.

1300Mhz is very good for a DC2 on stock cooling, mine does about 1270Mhz more than that it becomes unstable and I get artifacts in benchmarks etc. Does your sample pass benchmarks @1300? My matrix cards will do 1300 w/o problem.

Check out this thread for ALOT of info about flashing and unlocking DC2 cards and lots of other info.
