Little help with Windows 8 + UEFI + GPT + Raid + SSD install please - Page 3

One of those partitions is needed because there's the same limitation you ran into when you wanted to use your USB stick. There needs to be something FAT32 to boot from. So you need that 100MB partition because you want the C: volume to be NTFS. It's stupid that they didn't at least stuff the contents of those mysterious partitions into that FAT32 partition.

In Windows 8, you get into that advanced start-up thingy by activating that charms stuff on the right of the screen, going into "settings", then "change pc settings" at the bottom, then "general" on the left, then scroll down to the end and choose "advanced start-up". That's how you get to reboot into safe mode and whatnot. I don't know if F8 at boot still works.

Thanks for the info, ultimately I got what I wanted for the most part. The only thing I'm gonna be stuck with is silly partitions but after your referring to the USB uefi issue it makes sense and I understand why it's there. For the love of god covert things to one file system you yuppies! All in all you helped tremendously, i repped you for doing so smile.gif
