cursor disappears while wordprocessing... on any medium where you can type out a paragraph

Just today I've had a problem with typing documents on my computer. When I type documents on wordpad the cursor will randomly disappear as I'm typing and I have to click onto the text to get it back. It actually just happened right now as I was typing this post out. Also on notepad, while typing it would occassionally make a beep noise and skip one of the letters I typed out.

This didn't start happening til I used this program called mouse jiggler. However its happening while this program isn't running. Mouse jiggler is a program that is designed to make your computer think you moved your mouse so that if you are watching a movie then the screen saver won't come on in the middle of it. However I'm unsure if it was in fact the mouse jiggler that did it.

I'm not sure how to remedy this problem. Any suggestions?

I unchecked it and still the ability to type seems to go away every 30 seconds or so.

Id un install that program. It seems to be messing with everything. You shouldn't need it anyway. If a video is full screen it shouldn't use the screen saver.

When I go into my "uninstall programs" list, the program didn't show up there. Also I remember when I first used it, when I started the application the program started working automaticlally. There was no install.

What do you think about rolling back through system restore to a couple days before I put it on my pc? Another poster also suggested using system file checker or /scannow in elevated command prompt to fix it. Not sure which to try.

Try the roll back first. If that doesn't fix the issue then try tye system file checker.

I rolled back my system. The mouse jiggler thing was still on my desktop because its a personal file. I didn't execute the application though. I then had to install razer synapse 2.0 (because this was why there was a restore point there, I had upgraded my razer drivers). So I installed synapse before deleting mouse jiggler. Then once synapse was up and running I deleted the jiggler. I then typed a few paragraphs onto wordpad and the cursor went away and on the top of my word pad window some letters and numbers appeared floating near buttons on the wordpad window. I'll post a pic below.

Also while typing this post the cursor went away a couple times. I'm starting to think the problem is the new keyboard driver that razer just changed but I'm not sure.

The letters and numbers that usually weren't there are in little boxes and they have a very light colored background. Theres a "V" and an "F" and a few others and some numbers. These characters only appeared while the cursor was gone. Once I clicked back on the text, then these boxed characters went away.

Okay so I decided to hit the 'F' key when the problem occurred and it opened the "file" options. Here is a pic. Does anyone know what mode its called when the wordpad lets you use its functions with keyboard strokes instead of clicks? edit: My guess is that something is causing the word processor to enable keyboard shortcuts. not sure which type or what it means about fixing the problem.

edit: I looked up system file checker and it seems you need a OS dvd to do it. However my OS came off a thumb drive of a torrent of win 7 ultimate. Any idea how I would run a sfc /scannow with the thumb drive?

The [Alt] key is being pressed, either physically or by some software program.  Press and release the right or left [Alt] key (they are directly to the right and left of the spacebar) and see if the problem temporarily goes away.  The [Alt] keys toggle on and off just like [Caps Lock], so you may have to play around to get the correct combination.

BTW, why download Windows 7 from a torrent?  If you've got a valid key, you can legally download it directly from Digital River, a Microsoft partner.  A torrent could be infected.  Anyway, you should be able to simply insert that thumb drive, and SFC should be able to copy the files directly from it if needed.

I contacted Razer support about this problem since it started around the same time that I updated my keyboard drivers. They told me to put my keyboard on another computer and try it out. I did that and found that the problem showed up on the other computer right away. So its got something to do with the drivers or my keyboard.

EDIT: Thanks for pointing out the [ALT] key being the cause of the problem. I am using an MMO keyboard that has buttons below the space bar. When I hit keys and the space bar sometimes my thumb would lightly press one of the special keys (both of which were bound to alt!) without my noticing. So I disabled those keys and the problem has gone away. smile.gif Thanks again to all who helped me.
