Need a mic recommendation.

Thread Starter
I want a cheap mic with decent sound. I'm not really picky, I just want something that has fairly clear sound, and won't pick up the background noise that much.

Budget: Less than $15-$20 The cheaper the better. *Waits for the inevitable sigh.*

Use: Just gaming, sometimes Skype.

Would prefer it to stand on my desk rather than clip to me or my headphone wire. I already have headphones that I love, and I am not looking to get a headset.

I think people recommend the Zalman ZM-MIC1 but it's a clip mic. For desktop mics you're probably not going to find anything of good quality for under $15-20. Most of the better quality desktop mics are for podcasting or singing. You're probably going to have to sift through the $15-20 range of assorted mics on Amazon, NewEgg, and TigerDirect. Choices to buy online are getting slim these days.

get a modest webcam, they all have mics now as far as i know. worth it to keep it out of your way + the camera for video on skype if you choose. i've been told the sound quality from my webcams mic is great. would need a bit of a higher budge though i guess

I'd rather do this than than get a standalone cheapo mic like the Zalman. They will both sound like crap, but at least you get a webcam out of it. This refurbished Logitech C510 will do: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826104708
