GTX 690 Startup Issues

Hi guys,

I recently got a GTX 690 and tried using it with my computer.

I tried first with an OCZ 650w PSU. The computer started, the fan on the GTX 690 went to maximum, but no display was provided. The light-up text on the side of the card lit up fine.

I tried then with a Corsair 750w PSU. The issue persisted.

I've been looking online and people are saying that no display could be due to the onboard video. However, apparently disabling the onboard video on the P8Z68-V Gen3 motherboard isn't possible, you can only select the primary adapter. Tried setting it to PCI-E, kept going back to auto.

The computer posts to Windows (at least I think it does, the lights on the keyboard seem to indicate it), but with no display.

Am I to assume I have a dead GPU on my hands?

Thank you.

Try a different output. And you are plugged into the card itself, not the motherboard? Some friends of mine plugged their display into the onboard, and could not figure out why it did not work.

Tried all three PCI-E slots and it's plugged into the card. Tried a third supply, probably the card now. frown.gif

Don't give up until you try re-setting the system BIOS. This helps on some mobos.

As in removing the battery? I'll give it a try, thanks.

It could also be your monitor. Do you use an ACER?

How did you guess, Tobiman?

I took it to a computer shop, he couldn't get it working either. Couldn't tell if he was using an Acer monitor too, though.

Resetting the BIOS sadly didn't work.

Then it's probably dead. Return it and get another.
