MB+CPU+MEM+HDD combo selection - Page 2

wops i even c/p it and didn't see it tongue.gif . Yea or just go with the 970/950 and a even cheaper card but those are great cards you have listed. That board might work fine but that first page of unedited reviews is a little disheartening lol

I agree it's a poor excuse for an AM3+ motherboard, but I picked it because it's ASUS, has integrated video, and is cheap enough to keep him close to the $300 limit.

He should really convince his friend that quad core is good enough for basic family use and get an A8/A10 FM2+ cpu and motherboard. smile.gif

This^ biggrin.gif Only it will be very difficult to do. "But I want more cores" "More cores does not equal better for you. You won't utilize the full 6 cores and you're needlessly spending money and losing performance elsewhere." "Don't care. More cores."

Had this conversation with a relative recently, I finally said,"I'll build you an APU rig or YOU can buy yourself a computer for twice of the cost of parts and half the performance of the APU rig." They shut up about needing 8 cores and let me build them a rig.

If all else fails, go with what you feel is best for the budget. 300 dollars is really difficult with a 6-core cpu, but it can be done. Mine can be adjusted with graphics and board price down to the 300 mark, but it will take a performance hit. I put a 1TB drive on there, but if any size will do you can save money there, just make sure it is the 7200 RPM.
