Are my OC settings fine for 24/7?? - Page 3

I have my 8320 @ 4.52ghz on 1.392vcore and when stressing my temps sky rocket. I can't reliably test for stability, because i can't control the heat with my hyper 212. Running 10rds of IBT i've had a system shutoff due to heat, but it did pass 8rds. I wouldn't recommend doing that. I usually shoot for 24hrs P95 and 10rds of IBT extreme for what i consider stability. I couldn't with this OC so i said screw it i'm going to do what i do and if it crashes it crashes. One of the best ways to test system stability is to do what you plan on doing with your PC, your everyday applications. I mostly game and bench some, i've yet to have a crash so i'm declaring it stable at least for what i do.

But yes your OC seems stable to me just do what your regularly do as well to test.

Most of these custom PC makers do that, the 72 hour rule

TBH, im more a fan of the 144 hour rule. wink.gif

The game I play most of the time only uses 15% CPU.

So are my settings fine for 24/7?

Also what can I now reenable in bios for power saving without messing up my OC? Or should I just leave it alone?

Thanks

Yea you should be pretty good for 24/7 smile.gif, the only other thing i'd consider would be when you were running the stress test, ie winter, or night time and whether your average ambient temperature is likely to be much higher than when you actually set your OC.

For example I'm from Australia and i set my OC during winter, but now as we are just beginning to get into the warmer months i can tell im going to need to begin to turn down my OC as ambient temps will go towards 40 degrees outside.

but you should be all good! smile.gif

I've been playing BF3, CS:GO, Farcry 3 and streaming those games on twitch.tv for hours on end everyday since I made this post. I have had 0 crashes. I also have my video card overclocked. 24/7 prime rule is unnecessary unless you know for a fact you will be using 100% of your CPU power everyday for long hours on end.
