New Basket update.
Re-Included the Corsair as the £30 saved allowed me to get a SATA-III Card and my blue cables.
Also added a 2nd 2TB HDD to fill up all the SATA 6GB/s slots.
So in total, that's going to be:
2 x 128GB SSDs in RAID 0 using the SATA-III PCI-E Card
2 x 2TB Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM HDDs in RAID 0 on the x79 Chipset
1 x 2TB Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM HDD (Already Have, used primarily as data backup)
1 x 120GB SSD (Already Have) as a linux/mac boot disk.
New Basket also includes Monsoon fittings...I tried to stay away from them but they're so pwetty I had to have blue ones to match my Mobo and doing a black/blue build.
Also included is all my cables - which I'm getting the Corsair Braided Blue Sets because they're nice and will fit in with the build better than using extension cables.
Also dropped one fan controller as I realised I can run 2x Gentle Typhoons on one channel, plus I didn't want to have to mod my case or buy a different res/pump combo.
So I added 6 Y-Splitter Cables to allow each fan controller channel to control 2x fans, it has a rating of 2.5A per channel, and the typhoons only come to around 1.6A so plenty within the limit.
Although, I've gone a little over what I hoping/expecting. It all looks good unless people can save me a few £100 - but it must be on Overclockers!
as I'm getting all this on finance.
Also added my 2nd GTX 680 4GB - since it's an overkill machine, might aswell get it all at once!
Question: When connected to SATA 6GB/s - do 7200RPM have a significant advantage over 5400RPM? As the 5400RPM are a little cheaper.
The screens are a must at 2560x1440 - if I could get cheaper ones on OC, I would - but I love the idea of gaming and working at 5120x2880 resolution, will eventually add a third screen.
