Advice on lapping an 8350 IHS and a swiftech apogee HD waterblock.

Thread Starter
Hey all! So I'm trying to squeeze every little bit out of my rig here and I ran across some old stuff on the web about lapping your cpu and waterblock/heat sink. I plan to do this to my 8350 and my apogee hd water block. Has anyone here done such with their 8320/8350? If so what were the results/gains? Also if anyone has any advice tecniques, on what to use, tips, tricks, etc, that'd be great! Thanks in advance.

I forund a machine shop that did lapping. Did a couple of CPUs (AMD K10s) and water blocks.
Was about $75.

There are lapping kits (complete with instructions) available. I've done that too. Takes a couple of hours.

3-5°C at best.

easy way to lap is to get a small sheet of glass /lapping paste/colored marker.Color the bottom with marker, lapping paste on glass and with slow circular motion lap it in do it a couple of times and all should be well. The idea of the marker is to see when its smooth and the color is fading evenly

Lapping is not worth it in my opinion
