I have mixed feelings about the XFX though I remember one of the other models with the flashy neon green colors had problems with the fan. And with the NewEgg reviews it kind of doesn't look promising or assuring when people say "DOA or 5 months and it died." Seems more like a hit or a miss with that PSU, plus I'm cursed with bad luck with any XFX product. My gut feeling tells me to go CM this time around. I had more positive experience with CM though, I bought this el cheapo on clearance 4 pack 120MM CM fans for like $9.99. I didn't expect them to work as well as more expensive fans boy was I wrong.

Looks like CM V550S it is, I'll try to sway my brother to spend some extra $$$$$$ to get something that will last.

There is nothing wrong with the XFX Core Edition its a Seasonic S12II

The older units with green on them where as you said a bit crappy

But the Cooler Master V550S is far better then the XFX Core Edition and its not that much more

Think it will somewhere around the Rosewill Capstone give or take

Uh, for real? $70 or less after taxes (presumably Cali) and shipping for the V550S? TechPowerUp review said $89.99. Street at like $60-70 or so, really?

Which is true out of the following:
-missed the after taxes+shipping part
-ignored the $70 or less part
-meant the V450S and not the V550S
-MSRP not really $89.99
-meant a different power supply line after all
-rebates?
-it's actually really cheap... what?

edit: as for the OP, Rosewill Capstone 450W is proven and sits at $60 before shipping+taxes at newegg. Yes, it's enough power. Yes, it's very good.

I was at Microcenter earlier today. I saw they had Corsair 450W for around ~$57. I can't recall which model it was.

If you mean the CX430/VS450/VX450 then no none are not worth buying

If you mean the RM450 then no the Cooler Master V450S is just as good if not better and its priced lower

Welcome to OCN by the way

Alright thanks for the info I'll be sure to let him know his choices maybe he will buy the Rosewill instead of waiting for the CM V550S.
