"Micro" paracord (2mm & 1.2mm) questions.

I'm going to sleeve my new Enermax psu. I've done a few psu but recently due to the tedious and long hours needed I've switched to extensions. I can't find any extensions in the colors I want for my new build so time to roll up my sleeves for sleeving biggrin.gif

Anyways, I wasn't a big fan of paracard since I found it a tad too big. I've recently found a few sellers on ebay selling "micro" paracord w/ a diameter of 2mm and 1.2mm. I haven't seen anyone use this here so I'm curious if anyone has any info. 2mm micro paracord would definitely fit more snug then traditional 3mm paracord. The sellers have all types of colors, especially the ones I want (neon yellow and neon green).

Oh, and this question went unanswered in the cable-sleeve thread rolleyes.gif.

Whichever you get you'll need to stretch it to get a good look and help 'train' the wires. If you don't stretch it it looks like a floppy shoelace. My personal view is that the gaps between each wire would be too large with narrower diameter sleeve although a few people might like that. You might find 1.2mm paracord really difficult to get on the wire but I'm only basing that on the difficulty I had with narrow diameter PET sleeving.

When you stretch 4mm paracord it narrows down the diameter quite a bit anyway.

Thanks smile.gif

I have a bunch of FTW-PC (rip sad-smiley-002.gif) and it just wasn't working out. As much as I stretched it, it seem to relax too frequently and was a pain to keep on. I think I'm going with 2mm. The 1.2mm seem very close to what NZXT uses on their extensions but there aren't as many colors. Thanks again smile.gif

Have you tried the heatshrinkless method of 'tacking' the paracord or sleeve to the pin. That stops the sleeve moving and keeps it taut.

I've read up on that and I'll be trying that before I start sleeving smile.gif. If it works well, then I prefer to go w/ this method thumb.gif
