I believe that your FPS will be high enough playing any DX9 game on CF 7970's that runts won't affect you anyway...

I thought about that but then I thought about The Witcher 2 and 1440p. tongue.gif

You must have been out of the loop. http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/amd_framepacing_review_with_catalyst_13_8_fcat,6.html Just one quick example.

Only had a skim read but all i saw was talk about frame pacing. Ie microsturrter. Not dropped frames.

Well, when you consider many popular MOBA's and all Source games are DX9, then yes, that's a very true statement.

http://www.anandtech.com/show/6973/nvidia-geforce-gtx-780-review/7

I'm simply demonstrating that 3 or 4 games can really skew the results from 24% to 38%.

1440p numbers

LEAD Technologies Inc. V1.01

LEAD Technologies Inc. V1.01

You forgot to add Tombraider to that list of AMD biased games. tongue.gif The fact is in the last 18 months more AAA titles released under the Gaming Evolved banner and most of them were demanding and good for benchmarking GPUs. so Shogun 2 does not favor Nvidia cards. rolleyes.gif btw GTX 780 is 20% faster on avg compared to HD 7970 Ghz

http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/hardware-canucks-reviews/61310-nvidia-geforce-gtx-780-review-15.html
http://www.computerbase.de/artikel/grafikkarten/2013/nvidia-geforce-gtx-770-im-test/4/

you can look up even a voltage overclocked GTX 780 vs a voltage overclocked HD 7970 at similar clocks. the diff on average is 25 - 30%.

http://www.hardocp.com/article/2013/06/06/msi_n770_lightning_overclocking_review/3#.UkJZan_3x8E

Metro LL 2560 x 1600 AAA Very high settings

GTX 780 HOF(1.3 Ghz) - 65
HD 7970(1.275 Ghz) - 47.1

Tombraider 2560 x 1600 FXAA Very high settings

GTX 780 HOF(1.3 Ghz) - 55.7
HD 7970(1.275 Ghz) - 49.1

Farcry 3 2560 x 1600 Ultra 2x MSAA

GTX 780 HOF(1.3 Ghz) - 50.2
HD 7970(1.275 Ghz) - 38.8

So you see the perf gap can vary from anywhere between 15% (in AMD biased games like tombraider) to 38% (in games like Metro LL). If you throw in Nvidia favoured games like assassins creed or Borderlands 2 the average is closer to 30% even on a clock for clock basis. definitely at stock the gap is closer to 20% on average. thumb.gif

eric i did not start it. but i might as well end it. biggrin.gif when somebody takes a review and then manipulates it to present a distorted picture its natural for others to step in. see he did not take anandtech's review as it is. he also did not look up other reviews on the net which show a slightly lower gap between HD 7970 Ghz and GTX 780. its easy to see 2010rig's job here. its to constantly bellittle AMD products while praising Nvidia products. wonder what he will have to say about Hawaii XT. tongue.gif
