Need help choosing a monitor.

Hey,

I have £250 to spend on a good quality monitor and would like some of your opinions on which one to get. The primary use for the monitor will be gaming so low response times and low input lag are a must have. I'm currently using an Samsung Syncmaster P2450 which I bought in 2009 or 2010 and don't like the picture quality at all compared to other monitors I've seen to today's standards. I would also like either a 120Hz or 144Hz monitor and can be either 24" or 27".

Here are two I've been looking at:
BenQ XL2411T
Asus VG248QE

The Benq and ASUS use the same exact panels but a different matte coating. I personally love my VG248 and am going to be getting 2 more for surround. The ASUS is a lot cheaper, too. If you do get the ASUS go online and get a ICC profile for it. The colors out of box are not that great.

How is the picture quality? Is it anything near an IPS panel?

I don't have an IPS monitor to compare it to. So I can't compare it myself.

an IPS panel will beat it, but if you are going to be gaming 144hz is just so fluid and wonderful. It'll definitely be a huge upgrade over your syncmaster.

Okay thanks, does anyone else have any suggestions?
