I assume that card there is gonna be the replacement for the HD7850 then.
Yes, except it's performance is expected to be on the HD 7870 levels. Hell, it's allegedly rebranded HD 7870!

It's not loud at all. I don't even hear it until almost 80% fan. Almost going to guarantee if you put one of those small cards at 80%+ fan it'll (more than likely) scream like a banshee.

All of the reviews, pointed and saw 80c on default fan speed. You want to tell me that 7970 runs 80c on custom curve? rolleyes.gif

You can keep 7970 on 60c very easy, even if overclocked a bit, non reference designs which are almost all models.

Bacon on amd.....eggs on the gtx 480....aallwe need is the intel compute cards to make the toast and we have brakefast!!

Next is "but can it cook a stake"

Lets hope the efficiency of these cards is through the roof and dont put out much heat. I will be picking up a gigabyte windforce ( the new black one) or the new DCUII like the 780 if these cards are what the rumors are stacking up to be

The current Firepro W7000 is a 950Mhz HD 7870 and it only uses one power connector

http://www.coolingconfigurator.com/upload/pictures/AMD-FirePro-W7000-4GB-GDDR5_56165.jpg

The TDP is 150W on it as well , see http://www.techpowerup.com/gpudb/587/firepro-w7000.html

However the high end severely underclocked GK104 Quadro K5000 is running 122W TDP ; the Gk110 Quadro K6000 runs 225W TDP which is the same as the W8000 (900MHz Tahiti Pro aka HD7950). There's waterblocks for the K5000, which doesn't make much sense to me since it is 122W TDP , which is less than Sandy-E/Ivy-E. The Quadro 6000 had 204W TDP ; Quadro 5000 had 152W TDP but those were on first gen Fermi GF100.

If AMD released an improved / "refreshed" HD7870 with one power connector, expect it to not have much OC headroom. They could easily slap 6GHz memory on it like the HD7870XT to deal with higher resolution and higher AA, I'm not sure how much more power that would require and it doesn't help OCers that want more headroom.

1x PEG connector is quite possible for performance of this class, we already have seen HD 7850 with no PEG connector at all from Triplex.
