I had to RMA a PSU with Corsair once and it was really easy and fast. No proof of purchase required, no questions asked and my replacement PSU was brand new, not refurbished.

Probably because your model was still within warranty. Since they provide 5 or 7 year warranties on most products, many of their models weren't released long enough ago to need proof. Like, Corsair entered the PSU market in August 2006 and their first PSU with a 7 year warranty was released in 2009 (according to my brief research) so literally all of the PSUs they've made with 7 year warranties are still covered.

I had the same experience when I RMA'd a USB drive. Got a refurbished drive back though, but that's fine.

Yeah, it was in warrenty, but other RMAs I have done sometimes require proof of purchase, serial numbers, troubleshooting with Tech Support first, LONG wait times for repair/replacement and so on.

With the exception of having to pay to ship the PSU back out of pocket, my RMA was perfect (not that I expected a free return label).

Fuse blowing repeatedly = problem in the high voltage section of the PSU, almost always a shorted MOSFET in the power factor correction circuit or the inverter circuit. If you ever see this out of warranty, the cost of DIY repair is less than the cost of shipping the PSU.
