i7 - 3820 Overclocking help

Thread Starter
Hello! First of all, here is my current setup:

i7-3820 stock 3.6
16gb corsair vengeance ram
gtx 680 4GB

So here's my story. I have read and looked at all the overclocking guides and such for my processor and still dont fully comprehend the entire process that you have to go through to safely overclock the CPU. I'm really just looking for someone that can walk me through the process and help me step by step to safely overclock my processor to something a little over 4.0 or atleast better than stock. I dont need anything extreme but just better than stock at this point.

If anyone is willing to help me out via skype or something alike I would greatly appreciate your knowledge and assistance!

Thank you

Well the 3820 is a LOCKED CPU, so OCing won't be so easy.

Go into BIOS and up the Multi to 40, leave the BLCK and RAM alone.

Assuming the Stock Vcore or VID is around 1.1 to 1.2V I would move it up to 1.250V and then load up Windows and PRIME95(BLEND Test) for about 6 hrs. Or, if you WATCH Your temps and don't wanna wait, you can try Intel Burn Test, just press start on it, let it run 10 waves and if it passes after 10-20 mins then Run PRIME95 for 6-12 hrs.

That's a start my friend.

We can Skype assuming you have an extra PC to talk on. smile.gif
