people flame companies and have never even used thier products.

i suggest we stop listening to biased review sites gentlemen

You come into this thread, call anyone who's had a bad experience a liar and then question the thread participants' IQ? What a troll. I have an XFX 7970GE with the dual-fan version of this cooler, at 50% it's loud, at 80% it's unbearably loud, and the VRM cooling is nonexistant, so leaving it at a low fan speed causes the VRMs to overheat. My proof is that I installed an Arctic Accelero liquid cooler to make the card usable in a quiet environment. The only person who appears less than intelligent in this thread is the guy defending XFX for no reason.

Day late and a dollar short? Contrary to what most say my DD 7850 is extremely cool and quiet, but then again that is more on the low end side of the 7000 series. Sad thing is it's voltage locked so I can't get a good clock out of it which I know it's capable of. Also, after XFX changed their support website I don't even know if my cards have a double liftetime warranty anymore. I used to respect XFX and always bought their cards but it's a little hard to now.

In all realness though, who's going to buy this card? Assuming it's got a pretty high premium (It is from XFX after all) wouldn't the nex gen's coming out be better?

Yeah my XFX 7850 DD is also very cool and quiet...I haven't had any issues yet...maybe XFX used the same heatsink for their higher end models and maybe can't handle the TDP?

Even though I've read bad stories about XFX, I've had nothing but good experiences with their products.. But I'm not from the US, so I can't say anything about their RMA policies..
I agree that it is extremely annoying to click on a thread and read nothing besides garbage regarding a company..

Anyways, the release of this card, even though it was +2 weeks ago, seems like a lost effort, with all the frame pacing issues that the 90's are having I can't see how anyone could justify a purchase of an old gen card that works on xfire.. I was about to purchase a 90 a a couple of weeks ago when I saw them at $579, but after reading the issues that are still present on the xfire setups, I had to let it go..

Might be buying a 780 after the price drops are announced..

odd that my 7870 dd would be scorching without vrm or ram heatsinks and a less then flat contact area (by design) with a pipe running through the copper plate. Its also a 2 pipe design which is inferior to most competitors and the smaller higher rpm fans are loud in the fact i have to run them on a crazy profile to reduce throttling even after multiple reseats of the cooler. Now with my dual fan arctic accel cooler its runs in the low 50c 's while gaming when it ran in the high 80c 's with theirs. forget anything intensive in open cl/gl either... as it hit 95 in about a min, but now stays at 68c or so.

I had an identical experience. I have the Accelero Hybrid on my 7970 and an Accelero air cooler on my gf's 6870 and both run ~30 degrees cooler with less sound.
