Yes, I can't get past the loading screen. I posted a topic about it, don't want to hijack the thread. lol

I'm not really loseing anything. Just the drivers and windows. I would have to reinstall windows anyway so it will just take about 10 minutes extra. Its just 8GB.

(btw, I gave you a rep ) I see you too have the Powercolor X1950Pro.

Have you been able to O/C yours at all?
Yes I have had some success. Not as great as the first OC I did which got me to 665/880(close to that) I hit about 624/797 now.

Quick Update

For whatever reason, I CAN NOT get my computer to boot into safe mode. When I hit F8 I get taken to the "choose which drive to boot from" screen. I could swear that F8 used to take me to the boot method screen...

but anyway, so I skipped the driver cleaner thingy. If my registry's a little F'd up, then so be it.

WarCat 6.12 is a great driver! It installed smoothly and went well. My 3dMark06 scores dropped about 50 points - but whatever. I'm done screwing with drivers. I installed everything else that was recommended above, and it works great.

Then I used powerstrip to force a 1600x1000 resolution.

AND, GET THIS, I have managed to get some huge GPU overclocks with Traytool.

Right now I'm running the GPU at 645MHZ (50MHZ over stock) with zero artifacts and temps NEVER reaching above 54C (even when I played HL2 Episdoe One for 90 minutes on all highest settings). If I get more time tomorrow I'm going to try to push it to 650MHZ+.

HOWEVER - and here's the kicker - whenever I try to change the DDR timings AT ALL, either to overclock OR underclock, my screen goes completely blank - almost as if the video card shuts off. I then have to reboot a few times until the puter finally boots up with stock memory and GPU speeds. The fact that it also does this when I underclock leads me to believe it is 100% software related. I am doing something wrong here?

That's all guys. Thanks so much for all the help. If I can just figure out how to change memory timings I'll be a 100% ATI convert even after a rough start

I really recommend you clean the registry that is probably where your 50 points are going.
