+++++++++++++++++ Welcome to Project: Neptune++++++++++++++++
First a bit of background.
I started building PCs around 6 years ago when I was 12. It was a simple Dual Core system.
Around 2 years ago, I got back into PC Building properly, and built a Sandy Bridge System.
CPU: i5 2500K
Motherboard: ASRock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3
PSU: Antec True Power 550W
Case: NZXT Lexa S
GPU: MSI Twin Frozr GTX 560 TI
RAM: Cheap 8GB Corsair
Cooler: Corsair H80
HDD: Toshiba 1TB
After that, I upgraded to Ivybridge when it came out. People said it was a waste, but I came into some money and it was a brand new build. I kept nothing from the old build.

Total Price = £1322.11 inc. Delivery - Little over budget,
It came in a little over budget, but it was worth it, at the time.
After all this, I decided to mod my components and my colour scheme, changing from Black/Yellow to White/Red - Mimicking Gears of War.
Mod Log Link
I painted all the fans, and anything I could really including the case and motherboard thermal armour. Some parts didn't turn out very well, I did however like the fans.
In the end, I got fed up of the Elysium and wanted a bigger case, and since I didn't want to wait for the 900D, It left me with little choices.
I decided on the NZXT Phantom 820 Case, it was big enough and practical for all my needs with room for expansion later on, and so that's the case I'm still using now and will continue using for a while.
Then I decided to upgrade my GPU Card, I went from the 2GB HD7850 to a massive 4GB Palit Jetstream GTX 680, it was a massive boost and increase.
Now, my latest project. Project: Neptune
Project Neptune is aptly named due to the black and blue colour scheme it's going to be. Plus, I love everything Mythology wise!
This build will mainly be used for:
- Video Rendering, Editing and Encoding
- Music Rendering and Production
Now I know people will tell me it's overkill, but thats the whole point!
I don't want any people going: You don't need the 4930K for gaming. I know I don't, but the six cores will come in handy with the other things I plan on doing with it.
It will be mildly overclocked, pushing as far I can get. But hopefully settling around 4.5-4.8GHz on the CPU.
I will a second GPU Ordered, it isn't the exact same one but it is GTX 680 and it is 4GB. In fact, it's the only 4GB GTX 680 that OcUK carry now.
I will have 2 27" 2560x1440 Monitors on the order, and will probably purchase a 3rd when I sell my other components.
So parts I'll be carrying over:
- Case: NZXT Phantom 820
- Pump: Vario D5 with attached Dual Bay Res
- SSD: 120GB Crucial M4
- HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 2TB

This thread will serve as a build log, mod log and history of this build.
I am looking for constructive criticism on the parts and will be updating this thread regularly with updated baskets and photos.
I want community input when it comes to painting the AP-15s, whether I have Black on blue or Blue on black.
I want someone to try and convince me whether the 900D is worth it for me? I love the look and feel of them, but I need convincing to shell out £300 on it. Is it much bigger than the 820 and will it be easier to sort everything out?
Due to my disability, I wasn't planning on putting the GPUs underwater as it seems to fiddly for me. If I can convince a friend to do it for me, I may consider it. But I need the same waterblock that will fit both cards, and the blocks need to be black.
Card 1: Palit Jetstream GTX 680 4096MB - 254mm Long
