Gtx Titan memory question?

Thread Starter
Why Is the memory shows 3 GB instead of 6 GB?
I noticed it last night when I was playing gta 4 it shows 3000 some thing instead of 6000?
I noticed in some thing else as well but can't remember it shows there 3gb as well.
Can some one explain please?

Could you please explain where you get the information saying the card holds only 3GB ?
Are you using a 32bit software ?
A screenshot of what you are seeing could get people to notice what is wrong or not.

The question was if your software was 32 or 64 bit, not the OS ^^ This confirms my supposition; GTA 4 even tho it is written "enhanced for 64 bit" on the box copy of it is a 32 bit application and has the memory addressing limits of a 32 bit application...

To get information on your GPU or how it is recognised and it's specs I recommend taking a look at a application such as GPU-Z, it will confirm the titan has 6GB of VRAM ^^

Its just a simple "the software uses a dll that can't see more than 3GB" error.

You'd be surprised what afterburner 2.3.0 couldn't see on my Asus Titan. Like it couldn't figure out it was a graphics card bad...

happens in a few games ive seen, unigine valley also only detects it as a 4gb card.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the 6000 MHz is the 'effective' memory clock, the clock you are seeing should be doubled to get the effective memory clock. e.g. I OC'd my titans memory to +600 offset, so 3601 clock, but I get a 7202 MHz 'effective' clock. The marketed speed with cards is the effective clock. I actually searched this on google just a few moments ago tongue.gif
Are there rules about linking external sites here? Idk, but search 'memory clock half' on google, it is the tomshardware link, should be first one.
