8350 on a corsair h55?

Was thinking about picking up an h55 to replace my hyper 212+, what kind of overclock(general) do you think i could get? I'm getting 4.4ghz stable on this hyper 212.

i dont trust the idle temps as they are lower than room temp so lol

but around load it gets to 55ish c, havent stress tested in weeks, nor stressed it under heavy load in a while so im just averaging what i remember

You should be able to hit 4.5 GHz with an H55. The Hyper 212 is a terrible cooler for these 8-core Visheras (trust me, I had a 212 EVO), but the H55 won't be a big improvement either. If you're lucky you may be able to squeak out 4.6 GHz, but no guarantees.

it all depends on how good your case's air flow is, but hyper evo 212 is great, just swap out the fans or you can go with the NOCTUA NH-D14

4.6 would be about the highest I would expect. Make you add a push pull setup on the h55 if you have room. That improvement plus good case air flow you should be ok on temps. Every chip is different so just start at like 4.2 and work your way up and check temps. Either way should be a good improvement over the hyper 212.

Both the Hyper 212 and H55 are known to be at the lower limit for a cooling solution for a 8350. I'd say 4.5. Maybe 4.6GHz if you live where ambient is always low. If this isn't the case start thinking about a bigger solution.

Not a big enough improvement to warrant the cost IMHO. The 8350 becomes a real beast to cool after 4.6 to 4.7Ghz.

For the most part ignore idle temps, I watch CPU socket temp till core temp comes up to 40c than I go by the core temp. CPU socket temp max is 72c while core temp max is 62c.

It would be most helpful to us to give you better answers about your OC if you'd post your "Rig Sig" so we all know what you're working with. This could very easily change some replies.
