tiny amount of intel thermal paste on underside of 4670k

Hi,

Today I delidded by 4670K and put some CLU on it, I am not sure how but I noticed some of the stock intel TIM had made it's way on to the underside of the cpu, I cleaned this off immediately and managed to get rid of 99% of it, there is however a tiny (and I mean tiny) bit left as pictured below (note this is a stock picture that I have just highlighted where it is).

The trouble is it's right around the base and despite my best efforts I cannot get it to budge, and i'm concerned excess vigour might actually cause more damage than good.

It really is a tiny amount (hairline) and I understand the Intel TIM is none conductive, but it may be capacitive and just want to be comforted I guess that it should be fine.

Thanks,
Chris.

try a q tip with some isopropyl alcohol on it, rub it gently until it seems to be gone, wait for it to dry properly, then you should be good to go.

Hi,

I have tried this already, several times, it won't budge! smile.gif I even tried getting a sewing pin and picking at it (very gently), and it just appeared "stuck", the only thing I didn't try which I probably should have was a tooth brush but again I didn't want to apply too much vigour to such a fragile part...Ironically I hit it with a hammer earlier (vice method to delid).

are you sure its paste then and its just not scratched? did the paste have time to harden? it should come right off lol. try the tooth brush and see how it goes lol.

Yeah definately not scratched, it has the look of intel TIM, it really is a tiny amount, i'll buy a new toothbrush in the morning and give it a go, don't fancy using my own on it!

I'm 1/2 tempted to just turn it on and see tbh, it's a brand new CPU never turned on before so if it doesn't work....rolleyes.gif
