First lapping job

Thread Starter
well it was my first time and I decided it was a success so i came here to show it off.

I followed some guides on here which were great btw but here are the results..i tried this on an old 478 pent.4 2.6ghz proc. I just lapped this for practice as im going to lap my typhoon later on this month.

o btw i was to lazy to use the camera in between some grits so i really dont know what grits where which ( i didnt really get pics of the high grits until after the brasso polish)...all i know at the end after i used brasso it came out shiny.

Supplies I used, 400,600,(forgot to buy 800 )1000,1500,2000 sandpaper, Brasso (a must it gave it a way better shine), and a regular tack cloth.

You need to be aware that Brasso and other chemical cleaners can leave residue behind and actually alter your lapping when you use it (remember, the goal is flatness and not shininess).

If you decide to use Brasso or similar, make sure you clean it thoroughly - alcohol usually isn't good enough. ArctiClean is your best bet.

Do post your temps when you get a chance to get everything burned in. :-)
