D5 pump and a fan on a single molex plug safe?

Hey guys,

I've decided to go back into my build and re-do some of the cable management because it's not quite as neat as I like. I run two D5 pumps and 8 fans in the bottom pedestal of my CaseLabs M8, and all of this is connected to Molex plugs on two different Molex PSU cables in the following groups:

PSU Molex Cable 1:
2x Noctua NF-A14 FLX on Molex plug 1;
3x Gentle Typhoon AP-15 on 1st Radiator connected to Molex plug 2;
3x Gentle Typhoon AP-15 on 2nd Radiator connected to Molex plug 3;

PSU Molex Cable 2:
1x D5 pump on Molex plug 1;
1x D5 pump on Molex plug 2.

First Question:

Would it be safe to use the 3-pin-to-Molex connector which came with my Noctua fans to daisy-chain each Noctua NF-A14 FLX fan with one D5 pump and plug that pump+fan assembly into a single Molex connector?

Second Question:

If so, would it be safe to then run ALL of the above on one single Molex PSU cable? Each cable has 4 Molex plugs. It seems like that's pushing it since those pumps pull like 2 amps each or something.

each fan draws about 0.08A so that is total of 0.64A
total draw 2pumps 8 fans 4.64A (AxV=W)
4.64x12=55.68W
you will be fine to use one cable from the PSU thumb.gif

I have been running 9 fans and a pump off of a single molex plug almost a year now. I'd say you aren't risking melting any wires with that. I should also add that I also have a HDD running off of a SATA plug connected to the same cable.

Thanks lads. I did some math and figure it should be fine. Also, I've long had my eye on that Aquaero 6... Comes out next month, I'll probably pick it up. It seems to be the only recent fan controller I've ever seen that looks properly solid. I've even seen complaints about the Aquaero 5. It seems that the VRMs and everything in it allow massive current to run through it without the molex melting or anything, so without it I'm pretty sure a molex plug would freak out. I think they top out somewhere between 16-20 amps on 18 gauge standard wire but I'm sure you'd encounter problems long before that. I'm a mechanical engineering student, not electrical, but sometimes in this hobby I wish I were! thumb.gif
