Overlocking a 3770k to match a 2011 six core?

Thread Starter
Accidentally screwed myself over money-wise with a hardware upgrade and now i'm stuck with a 3770k. But I really need the high processing performance for heavy 3D rendering.

If possible, how much would I need to overclock a 3770k to match the multi-threaded performance of a 6 core like the 3930k or 4930k?

Current specs:

CPU: Intel 3770k (running stock)
Motherboard: Asrock Z77 Extreme 4
RAM: 16GB DDR3 Kingston HyperX
Videocard: Gigabyte Geforce 670
PSU: Antec 750Watt

Cheers,

Sam

To simply say match it is pointless. Just overclock it as high as it can go and with what you feel comfortable with. Whether it's more or less performance that a 3930k, there isn't anything else you can do about it anyways.

To put things into perspective, my old 3770k overclocked at 4.9GHz benchmarked the same as my new 4930k @ stock clocks
