Asus MeMo Pad HD 7 vs Nexus 7 (2012)

Hey guys , i'm thinking of getting a tablet, somehow external audio interfaces are finally supported by some apps and I'll be able to use the table for my field recording sessions.

The main use will be college, taking some notes on classes, reading pdf books etc, and the field recording with my interface.

I can get either tablet for 150€ , so wich would be the best bet?
The screen in the asus is unrivaled (spelling?) at this price point, atleast here in Portugal, and asus has served me well on the gpu and mobo department since 2000.

I don't buy samsung devices btw, so those are out.

It will be my first tablet and it really needs to last some while withouth me having to root it to gest the latest os...

Any help appreciated, thanks.biggrin.gif

That Asus tablet is a good buy if you need the expandable storage, hdmi output, and the rear camera, but the Nexus 7 is still a very good tablet with lots of support and sweet roms. The Nexus is also made by Asus, so you really can't go wrong with either one. When I chose my tablet, I also considered the memo, but the mediatek processor performance made me kind of leary. Memo has got some features not found on the Nexus, but the Nexus will always be with the latest OS and has a better performing cpu/gpu.

Do you think that the 2012 model will keep being updated or they'll forget it and stay on top of the 2013 model?

Given how Galaxy Nexus(GSM variants) is still getting 4.3 updates, I would say it is fairly safe to assume the 2012 model will have updates in 2014.
