The audio in cable on the monitor is for the speakers on the monitor itself. If you'd like to be able to use both you would have to connect the audio out on the keyboard to the audio in on the monitor.

are the audio cables for the keyboard so that the ports on the side work? i dont plan on plugging my headset to my keyboard so should i just not plug those cables into anything?

Exactly right. The Black Widow keyboard cables are just to provide a pass-through to the keyboard audio jacks as a convenience hookup for your headset. If you have some other place to hook up the headset, then by all means leave them disconnected. I plug my headset into my CM Storm Trooper front panel audio jacks, so my Black Widow audio cables are dangling off the back of the desk.
