Cheap sound card - Need some advice - Page 2

I know what you mean, I've also had Creative cards before and they're not bad and I had no driver problems till Vista came around and it took them months to release drivers.

Anyone got any experience with Sound Blaster Play or X-Fi Go? Alternative is Xonar U3.

You misunderstand my criticism. It wasn't aimed at Vista but at Creative who didn't release drivers for six months, which rendered their hardware useless. There were hacked drivers but they were as buggy as it got. Then Creative, under pressure from Asus and others, finally released drivers for Vista, thus I would rather not get Creative unless there are updated drivers but it seems Asus (Xonar) are a better brand than Creative and their terrible business practices.

The only 6 months I used Vista I had an in-built card. I actually sat on XP almost until W7 came out, so I had no problems with drivers. Well, you learn something new everyday, I suppose biggrinsmiley.gif
