I hope R600 can use crossfire on 8x+8x.
Think about it, R600 MUST run CF on dual x8's. The board made specifically for the R600 (the RD600 from DFI) has only dual x8's, so I think Crossfire will definately be feasible, however, it would run at x16 + x4...

But to be entirely honest, crossfire and sli seem to me to be the stupidest way to spend your money (besides that even worse Bigfoot NIC card - waste). It seems that once you have a sick SLI setup, something better comes out within a month or two unless you have SO much money, that you can build a new SLI setup every couple months, then why bother?

Most of the people on this site only play on 1600x1200 LCD's anyway, and that does not require a dual-card setup unless you want Oblivion to be MAXED out with everything on high and get 60fps... Hell, my single 7800GT can play CSS maxed @ 1600x1200 perfect, BF2142 maxed @ 1280x1024, and NFSC maxed @ 1280x1024 and none ever slow down.

That's just my , you guys do whatever you want with your money.

Why would you complain that it doesn't support 1333FSB? It can overclock to 2280FSB which is way beyond 1333, if you get one of those upcoming Core 2s with the 1333FSB, it may not automatically be set correctly but you can very easily fix that. It isn't Asus' fault, Intel's official specs for the P965 limit advertised FSB to 1066.

Will the P965 support the new Intel processors even though the FSB can? (Not sure about it). I believe "Supports 1333FSB" is a subtle way of saying it definitely will.
Once again...

Probably, though who knows if Intel will pull a fast one and re-release the chipset lol. I think they were going to introduce their new chipset alongside the Core 2 Quads (not the QX6700 which is an Extreme Edition, the regular Q6600 and Q6400s) but I haven't heard anything about it recently.

EDIT: I also feel that SLI or Crossfire are terrible wastes of money, but as kidwolf said, you do whatever you want with your money lol.

Thread Starter
I think i got only 2 more components left to upgrade in my system b4 I'm fully satisfied and those parts are the rams and motherboard (which i think i might buy the Commando if it NOT OVERPRICED!)

---A bit off-topic, but for me, my X1900 GT .rev 2 from Sapphire which will arrived at my house in 2-3 days. So basically, this is my last upgrade for DX9...I got it for $156 with shipped! And as for DX10 i'll wait til the 2nd generation of DX10 gfx cards and let the drivers mature a bit more...

this piece is going to retail for at least 300, probably 350 with the price gouging going on lately so F*CK it!

no motherboard is worth 300 let alone 400+ that asus charges for some boards

i MIGHT pay 400 for a motherboard when it lets me use 2 core 2 duos and has 4 16x pci-e slots and supported quad sli and quad crossfire

i wish i could boycott asus for this bull**** but i just pulled the trigger on a new P5N-E lol... although i would consider it reasonably priced

Are you retarded? Why boycot them because they come out with good inovative solutions. If you can't afford it, don't buy it. Simple as that. And they have boards for pretty much everyone. From $100 to $400 find the best board for you, and don't complain because they charge a premium for some crazy added features.

*rant over*
