Strange lockups. Need help

Sorry if this is in the wrong place, I wasn't sure what section was correct.

I've had a stable system (2500k @ 4.3 on air, 8gigs GSkill, 7970, crossfired a few months ago, 2 Crucial M4s) for a long time. I recently left town for 2 weeks and when I came back my system started acting up immediately. How it broke itself while it was turned off I have no idea.

I'm getting what I can only describe as a slow-developing hard lock that leaves no event log other than 2 events that are created when I do a hard reset. For example, just now I was playing music, had a couple browsers open and was doing work on Citrix. Randomly I click on an excel box and nothing happens but I can still move my mouse. I click a few more times and nothing happens. 10sec later all my clicks go through but I still can't get an immediat click response. 20sec later a few clicks will go through. The time between clicks going through gets longer and longer until clicking just does nothing. BUT, the whole time my music is playing and doesn't (usually) lock. Eventually my cursor turns into that spinning blue circle and the screen goes black, but I can still move the mouse around. Sometimes the system will hang like this indefinitely and sometimes it will restart eventually. A couple times the system could not recognize a boot device when I let it restart on its own. Once I got a BSOD after the black screen but event viewer showed nothing.

I have unplugged and reseated everything. Memtest is clear. 3dmark is fine. Prime95 is fine. I am 100% sure there is no overheating. I did a clean install of my video drivers including using driver sweeper. I dialed my cpu and gpu overcklock back to stock and set BIOS to default. None of this fixed the problem.

I have a feeling that either the M4 my OS is on is dying or my mobo is dying but can't prove it. AS SSD is showing pretty slow speeds for that drive which has made me suspicious. Part of me wants to just throw in the towel and use this as an excuse to buy new toys but I'm pissed that I can't figure out what's wrong. I also don't think an upgrade will have much real life effect and don't want to waste money.

Any ideas?

try using crystal disk info on your ssds and see their health info. visually inspect your motherboard to see if you can see scorching. could your power supply be squirrely? id say this is definitely hardware. try to run hdtune on all your mechanical drives as well as seatools to make sure your mechanical drives are healthy. failing all this id try swapping out SATA cables. also try to pull your motherboard and all out and see if it hangs when its outside of the case. plenty of things to check before you throw in the towel.

Did you try updating your firmware on your SSD?

Hey guys thanks for the responses. I've inspected everything for signs of scorching but found nothing. Crystal disk shows my 3 drives at 99%, 100% and 100% health. I stared at voltages for a while and saw nothing unusual. I have a relatively new 80 plus gold rated psu so I'd be really surprised if it was the problem.

I haven't swapped sata cables yet but did try switching up my psu cables .I also haven't pulled the board out of the cas or updating my ssd firmware. So much to do...

Strange thing I've noticed is that watching a Twitch stream is the fastest way to get my system to lock. I ran 3dmark and prime 95 at the same time and everything was fine. I turn that off and open up twitch and it locks in 10min. I've got twitch to trigger the lock a couple more times. So strange.

Thanks again.

Google how to disable dynamic tick in windows, this may fix the issue.
