How to decode a packet?

Thread Starter
So, there's a function of a utility I have here for managing devices on my network. I'd like to be able to break off of that utility and automate it. However, I do not understand the data contained within the packet that my system is sending out. can anyone assist me with this? Also looking for a good explanation so that I may do this for other things in the future. While it is appreciated, I do not need anyone to do my work for me, I am more so looking for a helping hand to get me in the right direction to learn what I need to know to do it myself.

What is the utility that you are using? How did you get this data, Wireshark?

Chances are that it is just an encrypted stream in which case you would need to key to decode it.

As far as any other help, I don't think Io will be of much use, I am just a simple network guy, but happy to help.

If it is text there is "some" encyption on it, but without more context its hard to do. It could be that the string is just ompressed as well if its managemnt, whe you say manage devies what part of managing it smile.gif
