4770k Temp Readings

Thread Starter
So I just put this build together yesterday. Im using a 4770k with a maximus formula 6 mobo with a NH-D14 cooler. I used the "pea" method of putting tp on. Ive done enough cpu installations / rebuilds that I think I'm confident in my TP applying skills but I could be wrong. I had to fight to get the bottom screen on the D14 to latch on. I believe I wasn't pushing it down and screwing it in correctly but anyway I got it on without breaking anything.

Running Prime95 since yesterday to break it in and I see all cores are the same temp but #3. #3 is about 10degrees cooler. Right now cpu completely maxed out at 3.9ghz the temp readings are
Core 0: 141.8F
Core 1: 141.6F
Core 2: 141.8F
Core 3: 127.6F

I have been trying to find a layout of the Die so i know exactly where cpu 3 is, so when i take off the cpu cooler to reapply the paste, I can hopefully tell I put a little too much in one area or if the cooler squeezed too much into one area when I was trying to screw on that bottom screw. I want to get it right before OC'ing.

Im also posting this to see if this is "normal" or not. Every build I've done in the last 5 years has been AMD and I've seen temps +/- 2 degrees between each core when maxed out, that doesn't worry me, I've taken coolers off and seen an even spread going out. So I don't think its me, but it could've been me cause I had so much fun installing the NH D14. Love the cooler, just don't know why it was being a *****.

Thanks,
Sikh

EDIT:

Figured out what I did wrong with the NH D14. Since I'm not use to the push pin / securfirm implementation I wasn't patient enough, also I needed a longer / different screwdriver then what they gave me. Looks like Ill be taking apart the build..

But I would still like everyone and anyones input on my temps please

Almost everyone has a gap in temperatures like that in one of the cores. Some say it could be that the heatsink is not perfectly flat, which it isn't.

Your temps seem decent, might be able to push a little more out of it, just don't go over 80c. If you want better temps, you can delid biggrin.gif
