[SOLVED] i7 4770k not OCd at 100 degrees celsius?! - Page 2

really its not a scrub, its just helping to loosen up the paste if its cooked on, and at 100 C yours is... thats REALLY high for no OC... I would imediately check it after you properly re set the cpu cooler, if its still that high your in rma land from my point of view.. just curious what is ambient air temp?

Phew, so I didnt take any risks with vodka xD just went for Ipropanel or whatever its called and wiped all nice and clean.
Took of the stock cooler, this is what the paste looked like:

Cooler

CPU

Does it look unusual?

Then I installed a Macho HR-02 on it.

CPU cleaned with Q-tips, isopropanyl and a tissue for glasses.

Paste applied

But when I put the cooler on it was sliding around a bit on the greasy paste while I was afixing it frown.gif
Anyway Prime95 test shows these temps (Large FFTs for maximum heat)

What do guys think? It this CPU overclockable? Was the 100C due to improper mounting of the cooler?

I will run a rendering test like Tuesday night and post the results shortly.
EDIT
Just ran Vegas, this is a snapshot after like 20 minutes

Temps were around 50C-55C.

high 60's is much better than 100. I run a 2500k, not 100% sure what temps the 22nm chips should run at temp wise at stock speeds with a full load.

With my 2500k and a 120mm fan cooler, i rarely see 70+ at 4.4 ghz. Idles at 30 ish.

High 60's on that stress test is OK, but when you OC, check to see if those temps get back up to 100C. What type of paste did you use again? OCing on one of the best chips in the market will prompt you to invest in outstanding paste with your cooler. Does that cooler have its fan blowing out of the case?

Well, 74 c is way higher than my 4670k on water at 5.0 I'm thinking that's rma material... I was running a evo 212 initial testing and was OC into mid 4's, granted I have different chip but not that different , and getting tempts around where u are

I used Arctic MX4, the cooler is blowing the air ouf of the case, you think thats normal then? is there any reference data on what temps people get with the same setup? (i7 + hr-02 macho)

ok, from your image of prime 95, now that im on my pc with a bigger screan it clearly shows MAX 72, not 74... so 72 with stock is still too high for me, but no advice just my perspective.. goodluck.
