I cant load them either from the school PC lol
I just put a pea sized amount, but since I did wiggle I might redo the whole thing , turns out it's fairly easy.

About the warranty, is this just UK ? I live in Germany, I am going to try to find out. But I can't return it to the store, because it's past 2 weeks.
I dont expect to cook it but jus wondering if I will develop like insane heat at say 4.1GHz already, I was hoping to OC it to say 4.3/4.4

Idle temps are like 30-35ish. I will check tonight again.

Its Prime95 v.27.9, I couldn't even find 28.1. So you recon those temps for large FFTs are ok?

I will certainly look into that post and the guides thanks for the tip!!smile.gif

You might benefit from a smaller amount of thermal paste. In my experience a "pea" is rather large.

- Though if your cooler has direct heatpipe contact with gaps between, use a bit more.

Is it the stock heat sink?? Can you take some pictures showing the airflow of the case? Have you checked that the fans are all plugged in? The heat sink fan should be plugged into a specific connector on the motherboard (should be labeled as cpu_fan or something on the MOBO) so the the fan speed increases as the CPU heats up.

I replaced stock HS with HR-02, the temps are better now. The airflow should be fine, I have 4 fans, top, bottom, front, back. Do you still want me to take a pic so you can see the whole setup?

Oh no I didnt plug it in. Lol just kidding ofc I plugged it in smile.gif The first thing I do when I change something I go into the bios and check fans temps etc smile.gif

Yeah I think I smeared it when I first attached the cooler, so I might as well redo it with a smaller dot! THanks for the tip.

I think the HR-02 has just normal contact?

LOL yeah sorry I just have to ask. If you're confident in your airflow don't bother taking pictures. Sounds to me ur chip just runs a little hotter than most. No big deal

No biggie smile.gif airflow is important.

Well this is the thing, I am somewhat of a perfectionist and these temps really bother me, I want to get the maximum out of this chip and I want to be sure that I am getting the most out of it.
Well, Ill just redo the paste with the new cooler and post the new results probably tomorrow if things go to plan! smile.gif

What voltage are you putting through it? Might be worth a delid....
its probably getting more volts at stock then it needs anyways - see if you can under volt it at stock.
also it could just be that its a hot chip - might be good for dice/ln2 wink.gif

Uff... so I redid the application of the paste with less paste, I even tinted the heatsink of the cooler (HR-02) but I got worse results stun.gif

As you can see it got worse....

The idle temperature was a little better when I started the PC though.
And also I ran the Prime95 test right after I started the PC with the new paste but I can't remember when I ran the old Prime95 test after I installed the cooler the first time (not more than a day though).

What do you guys think, should I try to RMA this CPU before OCing? Or OC first, see what temps I get?

The max safe temp for these is 100 degrees C. As long as you don't go over that you're fine.

Im overclocked to 4.7Ghz. I stress tested with an AC unit blowing 60F air DIRECTLY into my radiator. I know if I stress tested right now I'd be over 100c (In the danger zone) possibly up to 110C-115C. Even playing CPU intensive games, multi-tasking, and running an MC server, I only hit ~60C on my CPU.

Oha ok I'll check what temps I get when I run the normal tasks like gaming, rendering.....
What do you use to cool the CPU to get 60C at OC speeds?thumb.gif

EDIT:
Hm.... I'm note sure, I put less paste on the CPU this time, bang on in the middle, I then put down the heatsink without any wiggling......
So why am I getting slightly worse temps....? I will run Prime95 again today and report back.
if it doesnt get better then I redo the whole thing again lol
I'll also remove the tinting.....
