Hmm, I can predict what's gonna happen.

It would be put out through your normal sound card. This is just a way to add programmable "Sound Shaders".
Instead of "is it left or right", you would get "Well if you're at the X, Y, Z cord of 0,0,0, and the sound comes from 0,0,10, and that's through a brick wall, muffle it like this, and account for distance"
This would then play out whatever sound setup you have, be them headphones or whatever.
The idea is more realistic sound by adding sound to the 3d "virtual world" that you render visually anyway.
