New build - Gaming rig mostly for WoW - need advice

Thread Starter
My friend is building a new rig and here is his parts list.

http://pcpartpicker.com/user/bmfweasel/saved/2mEc

I assume he will have at least 700w power supply and already has the H60.

My first impression is the case is overkill and money better spent on a GPU.

I think that Nvidia is better so I would lean him towards a GTX760 or more?? He should be able to overclock CPU easily to 4.3? So the bottleneck is the graphics card, right?

Also I see newer Samsung Pro SSDs (although I don't trust Samsung) I think Crucial is quality, would it be better to go raid SSD? I have 2 vertex 3 120gb striped in sata 2 and am very happy, so sata 3 should be even better. Thoughts on gaming performance?

I think if he wants to really overclock this CPU he's going to need a much better cooler, but this is not priority, agree?

Also, I have Windows 8 and love it with a classic start shell and read that it's 15% faster than 7 - is this true? Is Win8 a better option?

We have about another 2 weeks for starting this build and we're getting closer to Black Friday - any deals we might want to wait for? Experiences?

Thanks in advance to all you guys that chime in!

Good choices, if I were you I would do the following:

CPU - looks alright to me
Cooler - if you do heavy overclocking consider the H100/110
mobo - Check Gigabyte or the ASROCK as well to save money
Ram - Good choice @ 16GB
SSD - Samsung is making the BEST SSD's right now I have 2 840's in my machine
GPU - If you want the free games go with AMD, but I would go for the 770.
Blu Ray - you are going to keep most on your drives, so just get the cheapest model you can

OS, win 8.1 is coming out now so it's really a crap shoot as to what you want. I like win 7 so am staying with that.

I've played WoW since Vanilla and still do today. Good choice with Intel for the CPU but grab a 4670k and a cheaper mobo. The higher IPC will help fps. For the gfx card get Nvidia, AMD is great but WoW favors Nvidia by a good 25% on comparable cards.

Btw, WoW will almost ALWAYS be bottlenecked by your CPU. The difference between 1 gtx 770 or even 760 and 2 Titans is almost nothing. But the difference between a stock clock and OC CPU can be a good 20%. Going from AMD FX 8120 to Intel 3570K almost doubled my fps.
