Installing Windows 7 on external SSD for use with macbook air.

Thread Starter
I would like to know if this is possible. I want to install windows 7 on an external ssd in an enclosure with usb 3.0 Its not meant to be used on multiple machines just a macbook air for certain applications made for windows. The internal drive is too small to make a partition and install that way. Can i use bootcamp or another software to install windows 7 off the ssd and will there be problems with booting.

You can use Boot Camp. After the OS installation to the USB enclosure is complete, make sure to set your boot options smile.gif

Unfortunately I'm pretty sure that during the prep routine that Boot Camp still creates a partition on your primary hard drive - so depending on the space constraints this still might not be an option.
