[IG] Rockstar Confirms GTA Online Microtransactions - Page 9

None of the money you earn in single player is transferable to multiplayer so no, probably not. Think of GTA Online as being a completely different game that's just set in the same world as the single-player.

So I am guessing that this will make what little mod support there exists for this franchise even more restricted?

Pretty pointless way to play the title, even more pointless that the developer is urging players to do so. But they're in the business of making money, so we can't really blame em.

PS: I wonder how this is gonna pan out for PC alongside the modding community.

I am assuming there will be no modding. You leave things out in the open to get modded and you can kiss most of your DLC sales goodbye.

I am sure the cheats will be there in the single player aspect of the game...these micro-transactions are for the multiplayer.

I pretty sure I am done with PC gaming. The only real advantage it has is modding in my opinion. I'll probably pick up a PS4 and just be done with it rather than upgrade my rig again. Just waiting to see how the PS4 pans out.

There are plenty of games with DLC and fantastic mod communities. Skyrim is the most notable example.

O___o

You could mod the crap out of GTA IV. When it comes out on PC I'm sure you'll be able to mod at least the single player.

Plenty of games prove that modding doesn't get in the way of DLC sales. GTA IV and any TES or Fallout 3/NV are good examples. I think it has more to do with a lot of developers focusing more on consoles and simply not bothering to put mod tools in their games.

There's still plenty of advantages with PC gaming. Better graphics quality/higher resolution for most games, more precision for FPSs, RTS's, dirt-cheap games through Steam or other digital distributors, an awesome library of indie games and much more. Heck, we'll probably even get much better ports with the next generation of consoles being on x86 architecture. I still enjoy console gaming for what it is, but I would never give up PC gaming. However, do what you wish. Just seems silly to me.

There are still many that don't and the number is growing.

Well, as long as they don't make it impossible to mod the game, this is completely fine then. I never actually modded it beyond editing the handling files, but IV seemed to have a huge modding fanbase.

I personal feel like RockStar is more in touch with gamers and probably will keeps mods around...at least for the single player part of the game.

Then again...look at the modding that BF2 had and how important it was to the game's community and then look what Dice did with BF3...makes me sick.

So only time will tell.
