[TPU] AMD Announces The Radeon R9 290X - Features 64 ROPs - Page 33

Edit: And the source is a Softpedia article from before the launch announcement. So crap, in other words.

so what's replacing what?

No 4-way 780 makes me a sad panda, $1k Titan makes me a sad panda, no 5x1 Surround makes me a sad panda...

It only works w/ driver 314.xx since it did not have any provisioning for 780. Its really for benchmark tbh (the hacked driver). Most of my games run like crap or crashed w/ this older driver. Plus, 314.xx was pretty so-so w/ my old Ttitans. Getting nervous on Hawaii are we??? biggrin.gif. For the cost of two Titans, I got three 780s....but I want more powah!!!!!

Amd did have some nice scaling with Tahiti. Really, its the software that killed quad 7970s for me frown.gif. Plus, the MST hubs weren't out then and I had the dreaded screen tearing. I'm just getting tired of paying Nvidia tons of money and yet they still hold a tight leash on us. Weather is upgrade-ability or price, they wanna screw you anyways rolleyes.gif. Drivers have been almost pain free. Something Amd couldn't do previously.

We'll see. I'm going to sit back and watch the show for now. Eyefinity pacing driver is more appealing to me. I can buy some used 7970s and pickup a couple more Dells for good 5x1 Eyefinity setup.

Nvidia rarely drops prices of their cards without really good reason..........i doubt they will do it this time around. Let me ask you this, when the 7970 Ghz edition released ,did they drop the GTX 680? No. When the Official 7990 came down to $650 did they drop the price of the GTX 690? No.

Dont hold your breath............it will probably still stay at the price point, same with the Titan.

The company is expected to launch 6 GB variants of the card a little later.

This alone tells my it will be a 3gb version and a 6gb uber version (to tackle Titan) is coming out later.
