the 7990s stock cooler was surprisingly good(for thermals...not acoustics) and amd recently "fixed" their drivers for crossfire, for the most part, i would recommend a 7990 over a 780 or titan any day for people who just want best bang for their buck for gaming today thumb.gif

but if you got money to throw around and want the absolute best... biggrin.gif

Yes, it is.

There is no denying the man's a legend. However his accent and dialect is ridiculous. Whenever he is on TV I have to put the subtitles on...and even they don't make any sense 90% of the time. tongue.gif

Did you say Ripoff, I find this funny considering the AMD FX62 was $1050.00 7yrs ago, it's a safe bet if the 290x is faster than the titan than AMD is going compete with titan prices. wink.gif

Back in the days when Intel compilers weren't gimping code and Intel hadn't started to bribe OEM's yet.
Great times for the enthusiast

This card will be great whether it gives good price/perf or costs the same as the 780 and beats the Titan.
Slightly off-topic; when preorders for the limited ed. cards begin, is the general idea to smash online preorder options, or do US/CA retailers typically do some sort of midnight bricks-and-mortar preorder system?

This question is based on the idea that no Aussie retailers will be taking preorders for the limited ed's of these cards, and I have no idea how they do it over in the states and canada

Heavily mod Skyrim on that 512MB card and tell me how it goes. I bet it won't go that well...

Not to mention, 2+ GB is great for future proofing.

afaik Intel compilers have always crippled AMD CPUs, and they were bribing OEMs mostly around that specific time...The Athlon64 was just that much faster than the Pentium 4.

Funny thing is my friend who owned the card never complained about stuttering issues. Now that he has the 660ti, he noticed games to be much smoother.

really just really? that has to be something with the drivers... going from NV to AMD... in single GPU solution u dont get any stuttering.... why people keep saying nonsense like this?
i greed with CF/SLI stuttering in some cases... every peace of eletronic device has issue on some way... but if u had problems in yours it doesnt mean everyone has...

fact is AMD is as smooth as Nvidia when it comes to 1 GPU.
