AMD MANTLE Discussion Thread - Page 102

I remember logging BF4 MP (Dawnbreak 64player 30ping) fps/frametime for the fun of it, comparing 1600mhz vs 1866mhz system ram on my setup (i7 2600k@4.7Ghz | 290X@1170mhz | 1440p High, no AA) and there was a 4fps increase on average with the higher speed ram (92fps vs 96fps average) - which was kind of surprising, but could be due to a ton of factors.

I know theres a ton of variables in MP, and this is the closest i can think of to get a general feel of MP performance. But im looking forward to running this "test" with Mantle. 16% bump would be ~15fps, should easily be measured especially since my first couple tests were within 5% of each other.

Thief is on unreal? That's interesting!!

Can anyone confirm these other leaked 13.xx drivers have mantle enabled?

It been heavily modified by Edios, however its still interesting as the developers of unreal (Epic) have been publicly ambivalent about mantle.

Nixxes is doing the modifications for Edios.

Ty that just confirms my earlier post about ram speed affecting BF4 1600mhz vs 1866mhz was around 4FPS which was the number I said and 1333mhz to 1866mhz was around 6FPS and above 2133mhz really didnt help much 1866mhz to 2133mhz was like 1-2 FPS increase over 1866mhz or 7-8FPS increase over 1333mhz. The facts are 1866mhz seems to be the sweet spot for non APU's but with APU's faster the ram the better because it is also the VRAM and will drastically affect FPS on APU's.

Actually glad someone backed up your earlier statements.

I was 100% sure I could see and more so feel a difference between ram speeds in BF4 - really does draw upon all system resources unlike any other game I've played.

You said that 1600-1866mhz would be 4fps on every system, no matter the resolution/settings? At ~90fps, 4fps is not even 5% - not even statistically significant - could be do to a lot of factors (maybe i was indoors more often). And 4fps was not even close to Corsairs and other peoples assesment that it would give 10%+ boost.

I think my point was 15fps would be definitely be measureable in MP, and that i was glad i already had somewhat of a baseline for benchmarking.

How about we be constructive, and not just find any reason to rip someone's input apart!

I know that I feel the difference in smoothness between even 1600 & 1866 - and that's what matters to me... my experience of a game. thumb.gif

So it looks like on Battlelog posted by Dice, the 3960X paired woth 2 R9 290x got a 58% increase in fps on average http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf4/news/view/bf4-mantle-live/

Curious to see what bugs actually happen with this. If Mantle really can't render in portrait mode on initial release I will be sad.
