i have the same bug in Star Swarm tech demo... that's a micro pause every tot secs...not tried BF4 'cause i'm not interested to see something wrong there

in my opinion while the marketing choice to advertise new products is good, it's not good in the real world when the majority of your customers has a 7000 series and many of them also have Crossfire rigs... since you're saying that Mantle development started at least 2 years ago how is possible that you show the better results with the newest product (290x+APU) ?
it's not a good behavior... they have to change method soon... first old GCN then EVEN new...it's not enough if you say that you have to do optimizations for the old GCN yet... still ?????
they had to show good results with both...and even Crossfire at the same time...otherwise can i think that you didn't test Mantle with the 7000 series? really weird... rolleyes.gif
no good this way AMD... so there's the chance that your customers instead of buying a new 290x... go to buy Nvidia... thumb.gif

I gotta agree with this. I'll be buying a new video card here in the next 2 weeks or so. I was waiting for Mantle just to see how things go. I know it's not optimized yada yada. This just gave me clear decision where my next video will be and that's a 780ti.

I wasn't throwing all my Hope's at Mantle but was going to use to Gage where I would make my next purchase. That and I'm still waiting for non reference 290x's

I have no answers either, as my 290X 7850k combo is working flawlessly. Just troubleshoot what you guys can and keep in mind this is still in beta so changes are forthcoming.

can everyone check their vram usage before and after mantle?

I know with at least bf4 on my 7870xt, my usage DOUBLED from 1700 to 3400 on the same exact settings
1080p 100% res, 90FoV everything maxed except effects on high and MSAA x2.

I did notice up to 20fps extra in CPU intensive times, but the stuttering from the extra vram usage gives the drops.

13.12 has more stable frames, but dont go as high.

OK I disabled ULPS and check this.

DX11 - Shangie - looking at tower from the sea - 64 man server = 65fps.

MANTLE - same location and conditions = 143fps.

My CPU bottleneck is removed! My 290x's are now scaling perfectly!

You may be onto something as in Mantle creates a memory leak, could you compare it while running it of a ramdisk?

Here is what I got while playing some 64player Operation Locker... as you can see... with Mantle the memory usage is high and appears to max out?? And it also seems that the CPU usage is more stable with DX11. I am curious if others find the same.

Yep,same results for me.Mantle = 2915MB usage constant. DX11.1 = 2000-ish MB.
In CPU intensive maps = extra frames are 15-20FPS (Siege of Shanghai)
In GPU intensive maps = same frames as with DX11.1 (Zavod 311)

Guys !! good news !! I guess I finally find a solution to the mantle stuttering in bf4 :

Step by step what I have done :

1- Without uninstalling 13.12 , I installed 14.1 over it.( the very first important step)

2- Then I installed windows 8.1 over windows 8 ( the most important step I guess)

2- Then I had to reinstall 14.1 driver

3- Then I get into bf4 iand activated mantle

tataaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

All the issues I and we were facing is gone now smile.gif no stutter or fps dips ...with my r9 280x it is flying on ultra with mantle..

Do as I do step by step.

I hope this time I finally find the solution smile.gif give me feedback after doing these.

keep in mind I am just testing it now..the problems can occur again.. keep in touch here.

I'll try uninstalling 14.1 with DDU, reinstall 13.12, and reinstall 14.1 on W7 to see if it helps.
