Very true but be aware in like 6-8 more months the next line of GCN architecture is suppose to hit market so far we only got a taste of it with the 290X and that taste was pretty impressive had the rollout have been better from driver / game support standpoint and also better reference cooling. So far only game out to show possibilities is BF4 and as we all know it is a broken game and has been from the release of BF4 again they rushed it. This not only soiled AMD's name but also Mantle itself I really hope THIEF does it right.

In all honesty the possibilities Mantle brings is sorely needed and is truly game changing from a developer / programer standpoint and bring far better visual / performance possibilities for us the gamers all for free to us. So additional waiting time should be expected and accepted things with this much potential cant be rushed especially when you got Microsoft riding Mantles butt looking for any possible flaw to kill it like a rabid dog out of fear Microsoft has held games performance / visual abilities back for years with DirectX .

ok, and maybe it will be my next card (the next after 290)... but there is a big BUT
IF they bring the right support to the 7 series... the proper Mantle support and the proper Mantle MultiGPU support by developers...
900 MB/s for the crossfire bridge are still enough at 1080p... XDMA was thought and developed for major resolutions and eyefinity setups...
i still want to play at 1080p and many others like me... so there are no excuses at the moment.
Theory and advertising are not enough to me... i want a proper support for my 7 cards and crossfire rig, since they said that those were supported at the beginning... then i will buy other cards for sure.
They have to understand that the customers must be treated in the best possible way, also by software support...
so i'm waiting for 14.2 to understand if really they're working hard for all the GCN users...and not only 290 users...

The14.1's are garbage for 290 crossfire as we'll.

Yep, 14.1 is crap. I can't play a single game at all without instant system crash or driver crash.

7770s holding strong too. Not one issue.

14.1 was horrible for me on 7970's and my 290X's so my conclusion is the driver itself is garbage all around in my eyes.

14.1 works fine for me in normal everyday uses, but gives my crossfired 7950's hell in BF4.

I want to clarify some things and expose some misconceptions I had (and others) about the BF4 performance tool everyone is using:

You cannot use the tool to find min and max frame rate in your typical fashion. If you min and max column A in excel all you will get is the min and max for a single frame

not

for the unit of time that had the most or least frames.

Put it this way if you get a min value of 135 fps, that means you had one single frame that came in that fast. It does not mean you had a whole second where all you got was 135 frames.

In order to do determine your fps for a second in time, you would have to determine how many values in column A it takes to add up to 1000.

example:

Frametime
A1 20 ms
A2 20 ms
A3 60 ms
A4 100ms
A5 10ms
A6 20 ms
A7 20 ms
A8 60 ms
A9 100ms
A10 90ms
A11 20 ms
A12 20 ms
A13 60 ms
A14 100ms
A15 10ms
A16 20 ms
A17 20 ms
A18 60 ms
A19 100ms
A20 90ms

In this example it took from A1 to A20 to get to 1000ms if you add all those numbers up. So that means you got 20 FPS for that one second in time. In that same moment in time you had 4 frames (the 100 ms ones) that came in with a time of 10fps and two frames (the 10ms ones) that came in with a time of 100 FPS.

now lets say you have a fast pc that is getting approximately 6ms and less frametimes, that means you are going to have to analyze ~150 entries for every second of time and over the course of a one minute benchmark you are gonna have about 10,0000 entries to look at and figure out how many each take to add up to 1000 for every second (aka 60 times youll have to do it). To the best of my knowledge there is no easy way to do this, and if you want to figure out your real max and mins you are in for alot of manual labor if you want to use this tool.

TL:DR
Simply using min and max to determine the min and max frames does not provide a clear picture of actual min and max values for a unit of time. If you are using it for that you are doing it wrong. It will however provide you with a decent sense of stutter IF YOU GRAPH IT.

You could easy write a vbs script to do that.
