Follow the market...they are barely above MSRP...and I would never buy any of those cards anyway, you want something that was at 100% duty for 3 months until someone figured out it wasn't worth it? No.

I have to say this I have purchased cards that were mined with trick is look for ones with transferable warranty or with sellers willing to give you all the warranty info and they are willing to say it was a gift they purchased new for you. Then the company can transfer the warranty over or simply buy cards that were never registered for warranty and then register them. I have 5 cards I purchased that were likely mined with and each one was purchased under MSRP by quite a bit and all now have warranty in my name as if i purchased them new so this works.

I know cheating the system but hey got to save money some how and add to it facts these cards prices were so over inflated for so long had to do something to even get a hold of one without paying almost double theyre MSRP.

I want to add discounts for being a tester for new hardware has literally stopped this is from Intel / AMD / Nvidia and so on. We still get discounts but it is only like 5%-10% off MSRP at max all these companies have started this as of this first quarter of 2014 which makes me look for cheaper alternatives AKA used with un registered warranties or transferable warranties for personal use. I used to get 25%-40% discounts off MSRP previously so yeah they made huge changes that have impacted my buying methods drastically.

I bought 2 R9 290X's yes 290X not 290 used for $400 each ( far under MSRP and non reference version MSI OC gaming model at that ) off ebay not to long ago with unregistered warranty meaning like new and warranty is now in my name and good to go I also got original reciepts or purchase order so regardless I am good to go. I want to point out the cards work flawlessly even though they are used and likely were mined with and have warranty still in case issue arises.

My first NEW Windforce 290x lasted one evening before it died and had to be returned.... that one was $680.

I then two MSI r9 290x gamers ($650) which one was fine, but 30 days later I did discover the displayport output of one did not work. Lucky for me I caught that on day 30 and was able to return that card as well.

I wanted to buy another r9 290x one, so I got a used Windforce 290x off ebay ($500). I asked and seller gave me a copy of the original receipt. The seller had good ebay cred and was nice.

That card works flawlessly and I don't care if the owner mined on it the entire time. I have more confidence in this card then I would have in a brand new one.

Its unlikely the pervious owner mistreated it as The Windforce won't go over 84c anyway unless you put difference bios on it.

I'm happy to get the card with the extended burn-in period. Things either tend to fail relatively soon in their lifespan or last for decades in my experience.

cheers!

Updated catalyst last night to try Mantle. Huge difference in average BF4 fps. Went from an average of ~80 fps to ~110 fps on the map Wave Breaker
post #2136 of 2769
Can anybody with a multi gpu hawaii config comment on the latest patch for BF4? Is it noticeably better on mantle than previously ?

I can say for me its weird. The more AA i throw at it the better my fps, were talking 2xaa is 88 fps ( i never been that low pre patch ever btw) and 4xaa with post high is 140 fps. When I say 88 fps and 140 fps, I mean it goes to that fps and stays there the whole time + or - 2 fps. So it is consistent as all get out and the average of 140 is decent but I never get the max near as high as prepatch which is well over 200 fps. It is literally min frame 138fps, max frame 142 fps, and average 99.9999% of the time 140fps.

So yeah weird is how I would describe it.

makes no sense that

2xaa=88 fps
4x aa =100 fps
2xaa and post high AA is 120 fps
4xaa and post high AA is 140 fps

Someone explain that to me, lol.

that is very interesting wonder why it does that but regardless anyone should be extremely happy with 140 fps nearly solid 24/7 with game maxxed out otherwise someone would like a $1million ferrari that only runs 200+ mph 24/7. I used that example because 3x R9 290X is classified in the $1million ferrari comparison in PC parts only thing better is 3x Titan Z's or Titan blacks if you get my point but that would be in the realm of Bugatti / Maserati comparison not ferrari. I want to point out when you get into Bugatti / Maserati realm ferrari looks like a ford escort.

Onto actuall facts or needed test results to compare how does it vary from your DirectX min / max / AVG does DirectX stay solid 140 FPS %99.99 of time or does it have spurts of highs and lows and all over the places or is it solid also.

A Maserati is a Ferrari...

Anyway, I wanted to add something different. I moved back to stock clocks for the heck of it, 3.5Ghz and 4Ghz Turbo just to see what would happen. It was a HUGE difference in BF4. I went from drops below 60 (around 50-58 with 60 kind of most of the time) to 60FPS solid with no drops whatsoever. All I did was OC to 4.5Ghz again, it just amazes me that jumping up 4 or 500 Mhz would be that much of a difference. This proc seems to bottleneck 7870 CF up to 4Ghz, a little past that and you are solid, just FYI for those of you with 7xxx series cards and FX CPU's. Hopefully when Mantle is optimized for our cards and doesn't exhibit loads of stuttering it will be different, but until then...OC! Which is why we are on this site anyway, yeah?

I want to point out at one time Maserati was associated with Ferrari but no more http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maserati specifically read this part : Maserati was initially associated with Ferrari S.p.A., but more recently it has become part of the sports car group including Alfa Romeo. I also want to point out check the prices of a Maserati vs Ferrari and you will notice Maserati is alot more expensive and is at the level of Bugatti price wise.

I also want to state something you might not have noticed RAM speed does affect performance on BF4 since you are running Kingston HyperX I bet your running 1333mhz or 1600mhz but 2133mhz has been found to offer around 6-10 FPS better performance over 1333 and all around better FPS across board min / max / AVG so ram speed also is playing a factor. Have you disabled core parking on your 8320 this helps alot trust me also setting NB and HT speed manually via stock multiplier setting 2200mhz NB and 2600mhz HT helps for some reason it constantly throttles them normally I guess a flop eco feature also bypass AMD CnQ for your testing purposes. I found if you do a bit of FSB overclocking along with multiplier overclocking to work best I run 205 FSB and 23 multiplier to get 4.7ghz x8 24/7 so I have my power saving features. I want to say this also when you do FSB overclocking it bumps the NB / HT / ram speeds up a bit also offering some boost in performance. I found 2300mhz-2400mhz on NB to offer a big performance increase with 205 FSB I run a bit over 2300MHZ on my NB and 2700MHZ on my HT on theyre stock multipliers which also bumps my ram to over 1900mhz which adds a pretty significant performance increase overall.
