AMD MANTLE Discussion Thread - Page 40

To put the nail in the coffin all we need is a synthetic benchmarking program that allows for results with and without Mantle. Not saying it has to be 3dmark but something that would let people see for themselves. I can see now the 200+ threads in many different forums with people comparing their results.

That's all. I also see no problem with the net code from my end. I also feel people are getting carried away with the issues in Battlefield 4. Battlefield 4 is not that bad. I know mantle will give me 96FPS on 2560x1440 as I get some drops due to cpu being utilized at 90+ percent and my crossfire R9-280x don't have enough cpu power to be fully utilized. So for me i think mantle will make many systems run the game much better and smoother. I would love to see how the game performs with an i3 CPU or even old Socked 775 cpu's. I think mantle is going to help people out with low end cpu's.

^this. nothing wrong with BF4. i could care less about mantle.

Ok what fps do you get. For instance I get some dips here and there so mantle will make it better for me. But if you don't care about mantle and think we don't need it so e it. I'm always happy to see increase performance if e don't pay for it. I mean it's like a free upgrade. I'm just saying for most people it should help them. what if someone was thinking of upgrading but can't run a R9-280x on a i3 cause of cpu limited or even cheap i5. now he can actually spend more money on GPu and much less on cpu and still don't have to worry about being cpu limited. i think in that way mantle is good. You only running a 7970/7950 so you don't have bottleneck. Let me guess you only running 60Hz. You don't understand how this can help us that runs 1440p @ 96Hz. We need so much gpu horsepower to run 96 constant.

If you make stupid comments like this rather don't say anything. I don't want to know that you don't care about mantle. Rather say why you don't care. I actually care about people that don't have money to buy expensive rigs and I think mantle is good for them.

with or without mantle it is hard for me to recommend an i5 for games like BF4, especially MP. checkout this thread (post#7) . . .

it is ok to hope but based on my experience with BF3 MP using my Zosma that can unlock to hex - i picked the i7 and i don't regret it. it handles the 290 just fine. my phenom handles my hd7770 just fine, too. what i am trying to say is . . . i made sure my hardware are balanced, so i don't have to rely on mantle or any other new app. i agree with you about BF4 being just fine. no issues at all every time i want to play i can. it takes a long time to get in but that's about it.

But what if mantle makes it so that you can buy i3 and pair with r9-290 and be just fine. Spend money where it's worth.

Not sure if this has been posted already
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfXI1pn5los

the i5 will be enough for BF with or without mantle and i don't recommend an i3 because i lost like half of frames in bf3 going 2500k to 2100 (made a video pm if you want to check)

Dude WTH that video is choppy as can be even the part where they are not playing the game at all why would you even link that to show off the performance of mantle or anything involving it who ever uploaded it must have had a poor computer rendering it or recording it or something because that is horrible choppy from start to finish.

I want to point out if you pay attention they ran 59-117 FPS in the gameplay video though.

hopefully all this amd moementum will translate into my stock no longer being stagnant.

Also, look @ those spikes... They even show up on w/e that OSD was in game.

while it is choppy from the rendering, it's also choppy in the game. Most likely due to the MASSIVE fluctuation in FPS.
