if they measure a 45% increase in performance compared to when running on dx for even .5 seconds they can legally advertise it as such.

This is why driver updates are always loaded with "9000% increase in performance in xxxxxxx title" when it's really maybe 5-10%.

Isn't January part of Q1 2014?
In developers eyes Q1 means march although january is in Q1 if they meant january then they have written january not Q1.

Well, I know AMD isn't always the most punctual company when it comes to releases, but Catalyst 14.1 means it is the January 2014 release driver. So I doubt they'd wait until March to release it.

If you have paid attention to the slides you would have noticed that they have turned towards a quarterly driver release schedule leaving old monthly one. So in 2014 there will be only 14.1 14.2 14.3 and 14.4 all within the quarterly time frame. Now these will be whql drivers. Then again there will be beta drivers for some game profiling but the moniker will be something like 14.1v3 meaning 3rd beta for the first quarter driver. So 14.1 can be released within the first 3 months of the year but i think it will be released at the end of january maybe as late as middle of february.

I read the slides, but I didn't interpret it to mean there would only be 4 driver releases a year (quarterly WHQL certainly implies 4 per year, but AMD has never been particularly punctual about WHQL certification). The slide only shows 4 boxes for 2013, for example, but there were a lot more beta releases than that. A different slide also shows that Kaveri support is coming in January, which would imply some kind of driver release in Jan - although that may or may not include Mantle/other 14.1 updates.

So in a way they are pushing themselves to release 4 whql drivers one per each quarter so they will try to be more punctual. Kaveri drivers will be released this month but they may give it a different moniker. Or it is really 14.1 with mantle for all but i presume it will be late january release.

I was informed they will only be doing official driver updates quarterly but will offer Beta Drivers for in betweens to eliminate alot of the confusion involved with past driver release / update schedules. Because many people were scared to run beta drivers and only used official drivers when infact beta drivers are now just mid driver patch updates aka individual game updates and such to workout bugs and such between official driver releases. But in past alot of the beta drivers worked out and stopped functions full drivers offered this is no longer the case beta drivers will have all the functions of a full driver with nothing but game patches added and such.

heres a strage thing i just ran across yesterday. i fired up my pc after a few days of moving things around my pace, and when it fired up that new raptr deal kept telling me there was a new catalyst update available and that my current driver is out of date. but when i go to the sight to check its the same driver that i currently have installed, wich is the current one that realesed in december. when i do the auto driver check it says i have the newest version. so what exactly is this raptr software detecting, is there a new driver around the corner or is this raptr deal just wacked out and i need to get rid of it???
