I also checked some benchmarks with r7-260 running bf4 ultra 1080p and that can do 40-50fps according to the videos and that's amazing so with mantle and HSA you should see some very good numbers. maybe even 1080p 60FPS. I see a great era in budget gaming.

I can see a 7850k paired with a R7 250 reaching 50-60 fps in High BF4 with Mantle but not Ultra.

Maybe in 3 Months time when they eventually iron all the wrinkles out then sure but not at launch.

Yeah but if only they had a R7-250 with 2GB of ram or so. The r7-260 looks like a better deal with the extra 1GB of vram

The R7 260 can't do dual graphics with the 7850k is the only reason i'm suggesting the R7 250 over it.

If you can use dual graphics then you might as well smile.gif

Link: http://wccftech.com/amd-kaveri-dual-graphics-works-ddr3-memory-based-radeon-r7-gpus/

Snippet from said link:

"Update - We have just received information form an AMD representative that the AMD Kaveri APU officially supports the Radeon R7 250 and Radeon R7 240 with dual graphics technology. There’s no memory type restriction and the APU would be able to work with both DDR3 and GDDR5 variants of these cards. Do note that no other Radeon R200 series GPUs are supported by Kaveri for dual graphics compatibility. Following is the reply:
So out of the models you listed only the R7 240 and R7 250 are officially supported.

  • 7750 is not and neither is R7 260X
  • So this has nothing to do with DDR3 or GDDR5
  • R7 240 GDDR5 as well as R7 250 GDDR5 should work just fine.
  • in summary: R7 250 and R7 240 are the models that are supported for Dual Graphics with Kaveri."

well got tired of having 4 gcn gpus waiting around for mantle, so i decided before the return period expired i would rebox up two of my r9 280'x and send them back for something else. i kept my gigabytes and sent back the xfx ones due to the fact the crossfire fingers are in a retarded location and you have to bend and cut stuff to make all that work. so i sent them back and my new package arived today, evga gtx780ti sc edition. all i can say is yummy, and holly rusted metal batman, just one of these gpus is eating up all my games and putting a hurtin on my crossfire r9 280x's. scray to think what would happen when i buy another one!!!!!! i still have faith in mantle reason why i kept my original two r9's but all this its com its not coming its coming its not coming, im ready to play now, period.... side note

that gtx780ti is a monster!!!! i hated to go there but it is!!!

I've also been thinking about this a lot lately. I have 2 R9 290s on water I got back in November and I have been dissapointed with them to be honest. Massive fps drops and annoying crashes with crossfire. I actually miss my old GTX 670, the fps were lower but at least games ran smooth and didn't have massive lag spikes. It's past the RMA date so I can't return them, although I might get a decent return on selling them with the R9 prices as they are at the moment. I've kept hold of these cards so far telling myself AMD will fix this stuff but I am still waiting. That 780 ti looking more and more tempting.

i feel your pain on the spikes and wierdness. i still have one pair of my r9 280x's but the more i play with my other system with the 780ti im more and more tempted to let the r9s go and get another 780ti, but i will see. im and amd fan but im also a fan of smooth gaming. im hopeful we will see all that was promised and i truly want to see mantle do well and inprove gaming as a whole. we are all gamers in the end no matter what we run and i think im safe in saying we want to play our games with all the eye candy they were intended to played with. games are an artwork in my eyes the dev's spend alot of time coming up with these games and its only right to try and give them justice, but when api's like directx and open gl hinder that it realy is a drag. or i should also say when money hungry investors get involved as well (ehmm, ehmm, bf4, ghosts!) so i welcome anything that will inprove our gaming prowess as a hole and who knows if it does as well as we all hope maybe it will be something all gpus will adopt amd or invidia. a perfect gaming world!!!

on the other hand, mantle is m.i.a and for what i gather so is direct-x 11.2. so its not only mantle thats missing in action. i could be wrong but i have windows 8.1 pro and 11.2 dx gpus and still dont show that under my pc information or am able to get the update from microsoft. so not to sure whats up there. again i could be wrong maybe its out and my rigs are just retarded and not getting the update for that. so in short no mantle, no dx 11.2 even though ive gotten ready for both lol. guess i should of just stayed with my trusty matrix 580s..... lol. nahhhhh no fun....

Well in Manlte it potentially could later on.

But really the 1GB of vram and the vram overal wouldn't help much if the other side of the spectrum is bottlenecked by DDR3.

I thought DDR3 = GDDR5

Completely agree, as for the DX 11.2 still no word of it as far as I am aware, I'm running Windows 8.1 also and dxdiag just shows 11.1. A shame as I mostly upgraded to 8.1 for directx 11.2, well that and hyperthreading for what it's worth.
