True a lot of games don't even use 11.1 yet so it will likely be a long time for 11.2 implementation. In regards to mantle it does seem that games with a lot of models on screen at any given time such as stratergy types stand to gain the most.

as far as i know, bf4 is the only game using 11.1 right now, which only requires win 8, not 8.1... Not sure what else is slated to use it in the future.

How long will Mantel last if it's based for GCN? Sooner or later AMD will have to completely change architecture otherwise they will only progress so far. From this, Mantel will have to be revised. If not any of that, it makes future AMD cards predictable for Nvidia, and they can counter attack in both hardware and software departments which could crush AMD. (Like what happened in Crysis 2 with the tessellation for ATi HD 5000, AMD HD 6000 cards).

Yeah considering 11.1 has been around like a year and a half that's pretty crazy. These developers need to hurry up and make use of the latest APIs! Starting to wonder how many of these developers AMD say they have lined up to use mantle, really will use it.

Almost identical apart from Thief wanting a better CPU......kinda strange though considering that Mantle is supposed to remove the CPU bottle neck from the equation isn't it?

They'll be covering their backs for the people who use Nvidia cards. Surely that way they won't get all the 'It said I needed X but its not giving my any kind of playable perf.' Don't give double standards when most people aren't really fully aware of how Mantle works ie. Only on GCN AMD cards.

That's what I'd read out of that statement!

That is the thing with Mantle that it will have a path per architecture instead of being universal and blind like DirectX.

It detects the hardware and gives the best code path. They can therefore revise the arch if they want.

Pretty sure everything at CES etc and such press releases has pointed to it being that it will only work with GCN cards (as the older HD 7 and R7 cards won't all employ the use of Mantle)

If I'm not mis-understanding the info

so I guess all that talk @ the GPU summit basically meant "we encourage Nvidia to switch over to a GCN architecture" rather then "we challenge them to adapt mantle"
