Yes, it's a monthly subscription, DUH, but what happens when you cancel that subscription? Software stops working. rolleyes.gif

In other words, I'll put it in simple terms for you to understand, for as long as you want to use Adobe CC, you must keep your subscription ACTIVE. Does that make sense to you?

Or let me put it another way, after paying for my CS6 upgrade, I am NOT required to make any further payments in order to use it. That's my moronic logic behind my statement.

I wish people here commented on software they use first hand, or at least did research on the topic before commenting.

The other day Abundant Cores was very adamant that I did not know what I was talking about when it came to Premiere, and kept going on and on about how all the new GCN features were for Premiere CS6.

Well we don't need confirmation if you just read between the lines lol. That's the thing.. he's acting as if it's some secret or that DICE/AMD are trying to add suspense by not 'officially' revealing that future Frostbite 3 games will use Mantle.

It's being coded into the engine. It can't get anymore obvious than that unless he believes that all the other devs in EA using frostbite 3 don't use the latest version of the engine which is crazy. You don't need confirmation when it's right there in front of you.

So I suppose you also call your Internet, TV, Phone etc. "lifetime subscriptions"?
You're obviously smart enough to understand that they're not, so why do you keep trying to act like they are.

so much anger in this thread when it should be love. LOVE people. I hope AMD and NVIDIA do good.... so you can all be happy.

Internet really is a lifetime subscription, LOL, that is IF you want to be online. I've been online for over 15 years, and not once have I been able to get online without paying my ISP bill. Just because it's monthly subscription doesn't mean it doesn't go on forever.

I plan on using Premiere for a long time to come, so yeah, it pretty much is a lifetime subscription for ME. I also use Dreamweaver and Photoshop.

If you could buy Adobe CC, cancel your subscription, and it would continue to work, you would have a point.

Are you incapable of reading between the lines? helpinghand.gif

Sarcasm is thick on this one, but you asked for it with your comment.

Remember with CS6, you paid for your upgrade ONCE, and you can continue to use the software for as long as you want, which I plan on doing for at least a year or 2 before switching over to CC.

if mantle attack to be used with many games, and if nvidia will not have an adequate response, the GTX 780 will be my last nvidia card

I really don't understand the fighting about this... I get into arguments with 2010rig often enough myself, but this is pretty cut and dry... If you want to use your product forever, you must pay forever, not once.

And really, I use Paint.net for image editing, but I know it isn't even close to photoshop. Nothing is close to photoshop. It's not like the world is abundant in Photoshop alternatives.

PC gaming is such a small piece of Microsoft's market I really don't see them being threatened by this. If they really cared about gaming they'd have spent more effort on improving DirectX. The number of people who will leave Windows completely just because they can game on Linux is going to be a rounding error in their sales numbers.

If anything it's good for them, because it makes the XB1 run better.

Lol, I get along just fine with Premiere Elements. Back on topic, it will really be interesting to see bench numbers for the new AMD GPU's in BF4 using Mantle. If the lower end R7 stuff is able to keep up with the 770/780 then we will really see some fireworks around here I bet!

Yeah exactly, the Adobe suite is amazing for everything it offers. Once you start using it, there really aren't many alternatives for everything they offer.

I said good bye to Microsoft Frontpage a while ago, Dreamweaver is THAT good once you know how to use it.

Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, Dreamweaver are the 4 main apps I use. Oh, Audition replaced soundforge for me too, for when I do recordings.

If Mantle becomes widely adopted, you're gonna see me with an AMD card, that's gonna be weird right?

I will then upgrade to Adobe CC, and do some OpenCL vs CUDA testing.
