You're not.

YouTube is crazy buggy and streaming always sucks, if you can get it to stream in 1080p which never works half the time.

And I'm guilty of just randomly throwing hate and abuse in the comments section at anything for my own amusment knowing some poor sole will take the time to read it and reply to it.

Well, in the early to mid 90's it was in it's infancy. Then it hit the rebellious teenage stage where all the upstarts, pirates, and other forms of sticking it to the rule makers reigned. Now it's in the college age where it thinks it knows a lot more, get pretentious, and tries to force it's opinion on others. Can't wait for the 30 year old stage where it tries to do stuff but only does it half way because it is too busy dealing with life to manage everything. Midlife crisis where it tries to re-invent itself as a new, hip thing. Then retirement where everybody goes about doing things like normal but the internet shakes it's fist and talks about the good old days while trying to keep kids off the Wikipedia lawn page.

You just referenced an extreme minority to invoke emotional responses. Like gambling, posting something on YouTube comes with it's risks. Since this is about only the comments then the content of the video is irrelevant. If a person is being insulted because of what they posted that is a result of the risk they willingly took. Saying a person should kill themselves because of something can be a perfectly valid opinion, on topic, as well as hyperbole. Whether that is an opinion that anybody else agrees with is a different matter entirely.

Obviously though, moderation needs to exist since there is a big difference between an insulting, vulgar opinion and a threat. As well as the problem of spam and completely off topic posts. Threats, spam, and off topic don't fall into the realm of what the comments are for, but opinions, no matter how much you disagree with them, do.

Youtube really shows the ugly truth about humanity. 99% of the comments are downright retarded and most people have trouble typing decent English (or any other language). It's not about being a native speaker, yanks are often worst offenders. I guess I could ignore the comment section but for some reason I read it anyway. I guess there's something wrong with me too headscratch.gif

Generally YT is going down the drain anyway, they make the UI worse with every update, streaming has random bugs, I need to set video quality every single time to highest possible (connection speed makes no difference), some videos are country limited etc. I could continue this list forever. Thankfully there's AdBlock, I've tried without it and it was horrible experience.

Despite all the stupidity and negative things, internet still needs to stay free. Place where you can be relatively anonymous and do what you want. I don't want greater amount of censorship.

Meh, I think it's fine how it is. Half the fun of Youtube is reading the comments. It's a video hosting site, not a site for valuable discussion. There are other problems that can be fixed before worrying about the comments section.

Video posters can moderate their own comments section so let them do it if it's that important to do so. The spam button works fine, if someone is reported as spam too many times you don't see the comments.

Why is everyone pushing for censorship of Youtube comments but so against censorship in all other forms?

Bloody oath. It's almost 2014 for crying out loud. I shouldn't have to run a plugin to do this.
